Task Relay

Task Relay for Chrome · Effective 3 October 2026

Privacy policy

This policy covers the Task Relay Chrome extension published by Stepan Kukharskiy.

Material you explicitly keep

After you choose a capture or conversion action, the extension reads selected text or, through Capture text only, loaded visible page text. It records the source URL, page title, capture time and your optional note. When you invoke ChatGPT handoff or recovery, it inspects the current composer and bounded, loaded Relay request/response material to prepare or retrieve your requested result. It does not ingest your complete chat history, watch navigation or read Chrome’s browsing-history database.

Local storage and files

Captured text, prepared requests, supplied files, proposals, reviewed edits and recovery state are held in Chrome’s local session storage. Chrome clears session storage on browser restart or extension reload. Clear preview removes the retained panel previews. The Desktop connection preference uses local extension storage. Downloads are files you explicitly export and control on your device; they may contain selected text, source links and other information you kept. Uninstalling removes extension storage, but does not remove your downloads or messages already sent to an AI service.

Your AI service

When you choose Turn into Skill or Save work in a supported ChatGPT chat, Relay places a prepared request containing the captured material into the existing composer. You review and send it. On other AI sites, you copy/paste the prepared request and reply. Relay does not click Send or call a separate cloud model API in portable mode. Once you send a request, your AI service processes it under its own terms, privacy practices and your account settings. Manage those messages and files with that service.

Optional Relay Desktop

Connect Relay Desktop requests Chrome’s optional nativeMessaging permission. A separately installed native bridge can save the material and reviewed results to your selected local Relay library. This mode is off by default; portable startup does not probe for a native host. Disconnect Desktop removes the optional permission but does not delete existing library files or records. If you explicitly choose Analyze with Relay, the bridge uses your configured provider, which may process the supplied material under its own terms and incur charges. This optional action is separate from using your current AI chat.

Publisher, website and support

The extension has no Relay cloud-content store, analytics, advertising or publisher telemetry endpoint. Its page content security policy prevents direct extension-page network connections. The publisher does not receive your captures through the portable extension.

The publisher website is hosted by Railway. Hosting infrastructure may process traffic metadata and operational logs under Railway’s privacy policy. The publisher enables no additional analytics or request-body logging for this extension and promises no hosting retention period.

If you email support, the publisher receives your email address and the material you choose to send. Gmail handles these messages under Google’s practices. Support messages are kept only as needed to handle the request; request deletion through the email below. Do not send passwords, keys or unrelated private material. The publisher does not sell support information, use it for advertising or train models on it.
